So it seems, via virtue of me owning a sewing machine and knowing how to use it, I’ve somehow accidentally ended up as the tailor for my co-workers (hemming pants for $5 a pair.)

Co workers; “Man we used to take them to the tailor but that’s kinda pricey :(”

Me; “Why don’t you just hem them yourself? That’s what I do?”

Them; “Wait you know how to hem your own?”

Me, slightly puzzled. “Yeah, it’s not that hard. Takes like, 5 minutes.”

Them; “You can sew that fast???”

Me; “Well, the sewing machine can. Takes more time to get them cut and pinned up to the right length honestly.”

Them; “YOU HAVE A SEWING MACHINE??? AND KNOW HOW TO USE IT??? HOW MUCH WOULD YOU CHARGE TO DO MY PANTS?”

Me, even more confused, thinking that ‘hemming a pair of pants’ was basically the simplest thing ever; “Uhhh…yeah, I dunno, like five bucks?”

Them; “OH YOU ARE SO HANDY HERE I’VE GOT FOUR PAIRS.”

And that’s how I learned that no one apparently knows how to hem up their stuff any longer.

I mean, no one knows how to hem things any longer. They can only hem them shorter.

I’ve seen this before, but it’s been years and it just came across my Twitter in its dying days. The words are from a favorite author of mine, Maggie Stiefvater, and they are the words I most need to hear when it comes to dealing with chronic pain and illness. I didn’t need this the first time I saw it, six years ago. I need it now. Maybe you do, too.

Fun fact: Cheetahs only attack prey that runs

jesus that is good to know.

Yup, that’s the point you just stay still and let it do whatever the fuck it wants that doesn’t involved you getting eaten.

REALLY FUN FACT for big cats cheetahs are fucking docile as shit

my grandfather ran a cheetah sanctuary in south africa and he’d just lie with them and sleep among them and they’d rub against him and chirp at him they’re big fucking babies

Another Fun Fact: Cheetahs are incredibly nervous animals. One of the (many) reason’s they’re going extinct is that cheetahs are so sensitive and nervous, some of them are literally too nervous to breed. Others will breed, but stress themselves out so much, they’ll lose their cubs.

So zoos with breeding programs had to figure out how to make cheetahs comfortable enough to first of all, get laid and secondly - not spazz themselves into miscarrying.

So what’d they do?
They gave the cheetah’s their very own Service Dogs!

The dogs make them feel safe, protected and secure!

AJHHHHFDDGHH SO PRECIOUS

this is emmett and cullen they are best friends

This is the greatest thing I’ve seen all day.

Dogs are truly angels.

so THATS why these cheetah ft dogo pics exist

the anxiety cat

Also! Cheetahs are not in fact classified as big cats, they are simply very large lesser cats, due to the fact that they purr, meow, chirp, and cannot roar. Also many cheetahs have learned to recognize wildlife photographers are friends and not foes, so they will just come up to people and be friendly occasionally as pictured at the top of the chain. Some will even leave their Cubs with photographers to look after while they hunt. So. Yeah. Cheetahs are great

this works because cheetahs are actually fairly social animals, and they look to members of their group for context on how worried they should be about any given Situation. but since cheetahs are also nervous social animals, they can work each other into an anxiety spiral pretty easily over things like “being in an enclosed habitat” and “there’s a guy over there”.

so by introducing a dog as a member of the group, the cheetahs will now look to the dog for context clues on how worried they should be! and the dog Is Not Worried At All, Thanks, so the cheetahs think everything must be chill even if they were personally unsure about it, and they stop being so freaked out about literally everything.

hey if you’re a UK resident can you sign this petition and if not please rb to spread the word

this is an official UK government petition that they have to respond to if it reaches 10,000 signatures

So, this one is actually a lot more important than reporting and blocking spam bots. That post has 20,000 notes rn, so it would mean a lot to me if you could give the same treatment to this as you gave to that (@neil-gaiman if you’re listening).

If the petition gets 100,000 signatures they have to consider it for debate in parliament.

It’s a crime that Gender Recognition Reform was blocked in England, but Scottish MPs voted it into law and that the UK Parliament overturned that is in direct contravention of democracy as a whole.

It’s a pretty serious big deal. Please sign, or, if you’re not a UK citizen, please boost.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Scotland recently passed the Gender Reform Recognition Bill, which would have made it significantly easier for trans people to legally change their in Scotland.

However, the vile Tory bastards down in London decided to use an obscure legal loophole to VETO this bill, essentially shitting over trans people and the very concept of Scottish democracy all at once.

If you live near Edinburgh, please consider coming out to the Scottish Trans Alliance’s rally on Thu Jan 19th, and I’ll see you at the referendum this October. :/

A graphic that says "Rally for Trans Equality; on the 16th of January the UK government confirmed that they will block the Scottish Gender Recognition Reform bill. This is an attack on trans people and the Scottish parliament. Protect trans rights. Defend democracy. 1:30pm 19th January, Rally point: Queen Elizabeth House, Edinburgh, EH8 8FT. #RallyforTransEquality"ALT

Rally in glasgow too!
